Another State Festival is History
The weekend of February 25 - 27 was the weekend to remember
for Wisconsin Community Theatre enthusiasts. Evergreen Productions
played host to the 2011 Wisconsin AACTFest on the beautiful St. Norbert College
campus in De Pere, Wisconsin.
Friday was a day filled with rehearsals and tech meetings,
ending with a welcome party at the Kress Inn hospitality suite. It was a time to catch up
with old friends and make new ones. With everyone sharing their supplies of snacks and libations as
the wheels of “networking” turned until the wee hours of the
morning.
Saturday began early with the first three productions followed by lunch. The festival then
continued with the final five festival performances.

But the end of the performances didn’t mean the fun was
over yet. While the adjudicators were deliberating and deciding, it was
off to the Sports Corner for the post show celebration. Once again there was
sharing of snacks and libations.
Sunday morning the Bemis Center was the site of the
awards brunch and the WACT annual meeting. During the annual meeting, the
Frank Peot Award for Individual service was presented to Bob Kafka. After
the annual meeting was concluded, it was on to the awards.
Selected to proceed to the Region III festival were Kettle Moraine Players'
production of Almost, Maine and the La Crosse Community Theatre's
production of Almost, Maine (not a typo).
Chosen as alternate was Mosquito Dirigible Aerosol Deodorant by the Verona Area
Community Theater.
